Family Camp Story - Amanda
Amanda's Camp Experience
We had always heard such great reviews about Camp of the Woods, but it still felt like a big thing to send our kids to a new place by themselves. So when Family Camp was offered in 2021, we were excited to have our first COTW experience together as a family.

Family Camp gave us a chance to see what camp was all about. We participated in the staff-led activities like hikes, archery, the rock-climbing wall, and sling shot course. It
was so hot that week, I'm pretty sure we spent about half the time swimming in the lake! When we told the staff we were considering sending our kids to camp the next summer, they talked about the camper schedule and showed us inside camper cabins. Our time there as a family confirmed in our minds and really made the kids excited to come back the next summer as campers.

Since then, our kids have gone to Camp of the Woods every summer and have made so many great memories. For the past few years, some of our nieces and nephews from Thunder Bay have joined our kids at camp as well, and always have a great time. I didn't want to miss out on the fun, so I have volunteered in the camp kitchen the same week that our younger kids go as campers. I always look forward to my time there, and it is truly a blessing to serve at Camp of the Woods!

COTW has so many wonderful staff and willing volunteers who rotate jobs and help each other so the work is fun to do. It really is such a great example of how the body of Christ is - we all have different skills and talents that God has given us. We are better together!
Watching two of my children get involved as volunteers at camp this summer was the icing on the cake! Both of them enjoyed helping out so much that they are already talking about doing it again next year.
